Dinner

TASTE OUR LOCAL CUISINE

Cooking with the Indian caraye

I cook typical Mauritian dinners 1 to 2 times a week on demand. They are very tasty, as I followed the hotel school course of cooking and baking. I learned many recipes from my Mauritian friends, which I adapted to the European taste (less spicy, less salty, less fatty).

Here is an example of a typical menu:

Soupe Halim

Rougaille de Soja
Gratin de chouchou
Purée de giraumon
Curry de fruits verts
Riz complet
Bœuf Kashmiri

Sorbet au limon sur coulis de mangue avec gâteau coco

Fresh fruit and vegetables

I organize also grill evenings in the garden.

Bring and share for all the guests

If we are a nice bunch of people, I propose a ‘Carlos’ evening. (Carlos was a Spanish guest, who liked fishing. When he had  enough fish, he shared them with the other inhabitants of the NILAYA). So everybody brings a dish and shares it with everybody else. Nice atmosphere!

For the other evenings, there are enough snacks and restaurants in the village. At your arrival, we give you a map with all the interesting places in Flic en Flac. The famous restaurant Domaine Anna is just over Flic en Flac in the middle of the sugar cane fields!

I tried also many restaurants that may tempt you during your excursions and I recommend you the best or the most original in Mauritius.

And for all of you, who would like to have a romantic evening for two, you can eat your dinner on your private balcony cooked in your kitchen or bought as a take away from the village. And before dinner, you can take your aperitif with the other guests on our roof terrace.
